Quem é ela:

Anita Baker conquistou a geração RnB dos anos 80, com uma voz aveludada e romântica, mas bastante potente, inspirada na experiência da artista em corais gospel e fruto de um ouvido privilegiadamente educado pelas divas do jazz, Sarah Vaughan, Nancy Wilson e Ella Fitzgerald. Talvez, por isso, sua música sofisticada tenha conseguido fundir-se tão perfeitamente ao pop, e Anita tenha colecionado 8 Grammys, até agora. Anita nasceu em Toledo, Ohio, mas cresceu em Detroit, Michigan. Foi lá que começou a cantar aos 12 anos num coral gospel, e aos 16, já se apresentava com bandas pelos bares da cidade. Em 1975, entrou para o conjunto vocal Chapter 8, um dos mais quentes da época, eles chegaram até a gravar um álbum em 1979, mas, infelizmente quando o grupo mudou de gravadora, Anita foi despedida, e, desiludida, chegou a abandonar a carreira musical e decidiu trabalhar num escritório de advocacia. Em 1982, o empresário Otis Smith, que havia trabalhado com o Chapter 8, convidou Anita para participar como backing vocal de algumas gravações pelo selo Bervely Glen, de propriedade de Smith. A princípio ela ficou indecisa entre deixar os benefícios de um trabalho fixo, ou, se lançar novamente ao risco e talvez, ter outra decepção. Decidiu se arriscar e abraçar sua grande paixão: a música. Passou de backing vocal à cantora principal e gravou seu primeiro disco solo em 1983, The Songstress. Mesmo sem fazer muito alarde, esse primeiro trabalho serviu para apresentar Baker aos primeiros fãs, e tirar proveito de uma das melhores estratégias de marketing conhecidas até hoje, o famoso "boca-a-boca". O resultado disso foi que em 1985, Anita Baker assinou contrato com a grande gravadora Elektra. Mas foi em 1986 que Anita ficou realmente conhecida. Com o sucesso do álbum Rapture, no mesmo ano, ela levou seu primeiro Grammy, o de melhor vocal feminino de soul. 

Duas músicas do disco ficaram sucesso e batizaram o estilo adulto-contemporâneo de Baker, são os clássicos, 'Sweet Love' que também levou Grammy de melhor canção de 86, e 'Caught Up in the Rapture'. 'Sweet Love', foi número um na parada Billboard daquela época, fato muito apreciado por artistas em todo o mundo. Em 1987, Anita saiu em turnê, e cantou como convidada do grupo The Winans, na música

'Ain't Got No Need to Worry' e com ela abocanhou também o Grammy de melhor performance em grupo na edição daquele ano. O segundo disco de 1988, não deixou por menos. Mais estiloso ainda, Giving You the Best I Got, consagrou-se com duas músicas que viraram hits, 'Just Because', e a canção-título, o que rendeu à cantora mais dois

Grammy, o de melhor vocal feminino e melhor música em 88. O terceiro álbum, Compositions, de 1990, traz composições próprias de Anita e tem muito mais jazz do que os anteriores. Depois deste trabalho, Baker resolveu dar um intervalo na carreira, e se dedicar ao primeiro filho, que nasceu em 1993. No ano seguinte, voltou aos estúdios e lançou Rhythm of Love. A partir daí, Anita passou a se expor menos, e deixou os fãs carentes de mais um disco de jazz. Ela estava mais dedicada à família, e envolvida em disputas com a gravadora Elektra, o que a levou a mudar para a Atlantic. Em 2000, ela pretendia voltar a trabalhar, mas, teve problemas relacionados a equipamentos de gravação o que a levou a romper novamente com a empresa. Finalmente, em 2004 ela finalmente assinou contrato com a gravadora Blue Note e anunciou que já trabalhava em seu próximo disco. Enquanto isso, chegou às lojas, Night of Rapture: Live, em vídeo, para os fãs irem matando a saudade enquanto o novo trabalho não era lançado. Em 2004 foi lançado seu novo disco, My Everything, depois de dez anos sem gravar. Em 2005, Baker produziu seu primeiro álbum temático, Christmas Fantasy, com temas natalinos. Por Giseli Miliozi

Mais de 57 mil espectadores viram em Portugal o filme "This is it", sobre os últimos dias de Michael Jackson, que estreou na quarta-feira, revelou a distribuidora Columbia TriStar Warner. Dado o interesse do público, a distribuidora decidiu prolongar a exibição do filme por mais uma semana, até dia 18 de Novembro.

Live: Mariah Carey en Fashion Rocks Brasil 2009

A cantora americana Mariah Carey cantou pela primeira vez no Brasil na madrugada deste domingo, mas deixou o público do Rio de Janeiro com vontade, ao limitar em três músicas sua participação no Oi Fashion Rocks.

Carey era a grande atração do encerramento do evento, no qual também atuaram, entre outros, a cantora Grace Jones, o rapper Diddy e Daniela Mercury.

A noite do sábado foi a mais movimentada e cerca de 5 mil pessoas lotaram o Jockey Club do Rio de Janeiro para assistir a primeira apresentação de Mariah
Carey no Brasil.
A cantora apareceu no palco após as 3h, vestindo um vestido preto justo e com generoso decote, e acompanhada por seis dançarinos de terno e gravata.

Carey cumprimentou o público em inglês e cantou "Touch My Body" e "Obsessed", para se retirar por alguns minutos do palco.

Ela voltou pouco depois para cantar "Fantasy" e, ao concluir, se despediu do público em português, dizendo "amo vocês, muito obrigada", que encerrou seu breve show.

Foi a primeira apresentação pública de Mariah Carey no Brasil, onde esteve em 1999 para uma sessão de autógrafos e em 2002 para uma apresentação exclusiva a poucas dezenas de convidados.

A crítica carioca foi muito mais generosa com a veterana Grace Jones, que aos 61 anos esbanjou energia ao ritmo de alguns de seus clássicos, como "Slave to the Rhythm".

filme sobre Michael Jackson, que estreia mundialmente a 28 de Outubro.

A Sony pagou 60 milhões de dólares (40,7 milhões de euros) pelas imagens das
últimas aparições de Michael Jackson, filmadas por Kenny Ortega, que também
realiza o filme.
